Complete list and introduction of AB and GE-Fanuc commonly used PLC models
AB (Rockwell)
ControlLogix Series: This is AB's most powerful large PLC system with a modular structure. It supports hot swapping, redundancy, unlimited I/O, and various network communications like EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet. It's suitable for sequence control, motion control, drive control, and process control. Its capabilities are robust, and it finds extensive use. For large projects, this series is recommended.
CompactLogix Series: AB's medium-sized PLC system with a modular rackless structure. It doesn't support hot swapping and offers network communication support for EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet. It covers sequence control, motion control, drive control, and process control. It's seen by some as a replacement for the SLC500 series, but it hasn't gained high customer acceptance. For large systems, there's ControlLogix, and for smaller to mid-sized systems, the more cost-effective SLC500 still serves a purpose, making it challenging for this series to gain traction.
FlexLogix Series: A distributed system that supports hot swapping and is used for distributed applications in the field. You can choose to use the processor as an independent distributed controller, or select communication adapters with I/O to function as distributed I/O stations. Using Flex I/O distributed stations can help reduce project costs.
SLC500: A small control system with a modular rack-based structure. It doesn't support hot swapping and has a wide range of applications.
MicroLogix: A micro control system available in four series: MicroLogix 1000, 1100, 1200, and 1500. The MicroLogix 1100 series, which has an integrated Ethernet communication port, is a recent addition.
GE-Fanuc
90TM Micro PLC: The 90TM Micro PLC is a part of the GE FANUC 90TM PLC family. Its compact physical design, easy installation, powerful control capabilities, and competitive pricing make it suitable for many budget-constrained, low-cost small-scale control applications.
GE FANUC Series 90-30: It consists of a range of controllers, input/output systems, and various specialty modules. It is suitable for various control requirements in industrial settings.
